        Volunteer Committees

We have different committees divided into three main areas. All volunteers must attend general training sessions and work a minimum of three days.

        Competition Support

        Walking Scorer

This committee will support on all aspects of the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday Pro-Ams. Responsibilities may include assembling and distributing participant gifts, registering amateurs, and assisting with Pro-Am contests throughout the day. Customer service experience is preferred and a positive attitude is a must. This committee will work from Monday to Wednesday and will be required to help prior to the event.

        Walking Scorers

Walking scorers are critical volunteer positions that require mental and physical energy, attention to detail and an adequate understanding of the game of golf. The walking scorers accompany a group of up to three (3) players and keep their scores and specific statistics on a mobile device providing real time data.

        Standard Bearers

Volunteers in this role walk alongside walking scorers inside the ropes. The primary responsibilities of a standard bearer are; to show the gallery which players are in the group, and what their scores are. This information is displayed on a large (2-3 Kgs/5 lb) sign that volunteers must have the ability to carry throughout 18 holes of play.

        Starters

Starters have the responsibility of announcing each player as they tee off for each round, as well as when players approach the 18th green on Saturday and Sunday. Starters must have strong pronunciation skills in both the Spanish and English language. Starters will also assist with the Honorary Observer program. Those interested in this committee must submit an audition tape portraying vocal and pronunciation skills.

The first task is as a spotter, both on the tee box and in the fairway, helping players locate errant shots. The second task is gallery management, acting as traffic directors for players and spectators. Hole marshals must always ensure player and gallery safety, and make sure players are maintaining a good pace of play.

        Caddyshack

Caddyshack volunteers help with caddie registration, maintain the caddie area organizes, prepare caddie bibs for each round, and provide clean towels, tees, and pencils to caddies. Caddies Services volunteers must always be prepared to help and support the professional caddies in any way throughout the tournament.
