Growing the game of golf in Mexico and supporting Mexican players has been a core value of the WWT Championship since the event’s founding in 2007. And a critical part of that has been providing playing opportunities on golf’s biggest stage to aspiring Mexican professionals through Sponsor’s Exemptions. In its 17-year history, a total of 28 different Mexican players have competed at the WWT Championship.
The Clasificatorio Mexicano presented by National Car Rental consists of 27 holes of stroke play where the individual winner earns an invitation to compete alongside the PGA TOUR pros in November. Those players finishing in 2nd through 17th places at the stroke play qualifier advance to the 16-player Mexico Match Play bracket where four rounds of elimination will result in one victor who will also receive an exemption into the WWT Championship.
