Michael Thorbjornsen of Stanford Earns Exemption to the WWT Championship as Medalist and Individual Winner of the Cabo Collegiate One of college golf’s top players and one of the brightest rising stars in amateur golf already has his place secured in the field for the 2024 WWT Championship. Michael Thorbjornsen of Stanford earned an exemption into the field after finishing in first place in the individual competition at the Cabo Collegiate with a total score of 10-under-par 203. The Cabo Collegiate is widely regarded as one of college golf’s premier tournaments and annually features the strongest field of the college golf season outside of the NCAA Championship. Held for the second consecutive year at Twin Dolphin Club in Los Cabos, the Cabo Collegiate boasted an incredible field with teams such as Arizona, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Florida State, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Vanderbilt among others. The Cabo Collegiate dates to 2010 when it was held for the first time at Querencia in San Jose del Cabo. Thorbjornsen fired a blistering 6-under-par 65 in the second round to put himself in great position entering the final 18 holes and held on with a final-round 69 (-2) to seal the victory. When asked how he feels to know he will return to Cabo in November to play the WWT Championship, Michael responded, “That’s music to my ears!” Before focusing on the fall and his return to Cabo, the senior from Massachusetts will lead his team into the postseason, starting today at the NCAA Regionals.
